Cpl. Harland Van Valkingburg, former Sioux City resident, who has served in the Ninth air force on the ground crew in England and France since 1943, has begun infantry training somewhere in England. He is the son of Mrs. Ellen Stines and grandson of Mr. and Mrs. George Widner, all of Correctionville, Iowa. He enlisted in the army corps in January 1942, and took his training in mechanics at Miami, Fla., Fort Sheridan, Ill., and Hunter Field, Ga.

MEN AND WOMEN IN SERVICE
Private First Class Robert J. Speichinger, son of Mrs. Peter Speichinger, 2925 Leech Avenue, and Private First Class Harland D. Van Valkingburg, grandson of George S. Widner, 3201 Park View Boulevard, has been graduated from the ordnance automotive school at Fort Sheridan, Illinois.
