Leo J. Van Erdewyk was born July 23, 1916 to Franciscus “Frank” Hubert and Maria Berger Van Erdewyk. He died Oct. 6, 1944 and is buried in Ardennes American Cemetery and Memorial, Neuville-en-Condroz, Liege, Belgium. He was initially memorialized at the Tablets of the Missing at Netherlands American Cemetery, Margraten, Netherlands.
Sgt. Van Erdewyk served in World War II with the U.S. Army 506th Parachute Infantry Regiment. He was MIA/KIA in Holland and awarded the Bronze Star with Oak Leaf Cluster and Purple Heart with Oak Leaf Cluster.
