Charles Edward Vail was born Sept. 23, 1919 to Edward Grizel and Alice Florence Brown Vail. He died Jan. 11, 1945 and is buried in Indianapolis Cemetery, Rose Hill, IA.
Lt. Vail served in World War II with the U.S. Army Air Corps B-20 Bomber Group, 20th Air Force, 444th Bomb Group, 677th Bomb Squadron and was KIA over Singapore.
