LeRoy Tracy Is War Casualty
Moose Lodge Member Is Killed in New Guinea
Pvt. LeRoy Tracy, 23, was killed in action August 1, in New Guinea according to word received from the war department by his mother Mrs. Jennie Tracy, 1022 Pierce Street. He was a member of the Calvary.
Pvt. Tracy was graduated from St. Joseph’s High School at Salix, Iowa, and was formerly employed at Lou Murray’s hatchery. He enlisted in the army in June 1942, took his training at Fort Riley, Kansas and was sent overseas in January 1943. He was a member of the Cathedral of the Epiphany and the Moose Lodge.
Surviving are his mother, four brothers, Orville of Los Angeles, Jerome, stationed with the army in the Hawaiian Islands; Alonzo, radioman in the naval air corps, and James, a merchant marine; four sisters, Mrs. Edward Wendt of Hornick, Iowa, Miss Cecelia Tracy of Sioux City, Mrs. Arnold Bowerly and Mrs. Russell Bowers of Oakland, California.

Leroy Ignatius Tracy was born Feb. 1, 1920 to Paul Vincent and Mabel Jane “Jennie” Kinnamon Tracy. He died Aug. 1, 1944 and is buried in Manila American Cemetery, Taguig City, Philippines.
Pvt. Tracy served with the 112th Cavalry Regiment and was awarded the Purple Heart.
