Castana, Iowa – Vinton Thomson, son of Mr. and Mrs. Peter Thomson, has been commissioned second lieutenant. He recently completed an officer candidate course at Fort Benning, George.

Vinton Thomson was born Aug. 3, 1918 to Peter and Olive E. Leff Thomson. He died Nov. 12, 2005 and is buried in Arlington National Cemetery, Arlington, VA.
Lt. Col. Thomson served with the U.S. Army in World War II, Korea and Vietnam.
