Cecil Wayne Thompson was born Aug. 18, 1916 to Ivan L. and Lillian M. Leopold Thompson. He died Jan. 20, 2005 and is buried in Cass Center Cemetery, Webster City, IA.
Corporal Thompson served in the U.S. Army Air Force in World War II with the 905th Engineers, Airforce Headquarters Company, 13th Division in the Pacific Theater.

Cecil W. Thompson, 88, of Webster City, died Thursday, January 20, 2005 at the Southfield Wellness Community. Funeral services will be held at 10:30 a.m. Monday, at the Faith United Methodist Church with Revs. Brian Carter and Bill Keller officiating. Burial will be in the Cass Township Cemetery, northeast of Webster City with Graveside Military Rites conducted by the American Legion Post #191. Visitation will be from 5 to 8 p.m. Sunday at the Foster Funeral & Cremation Center.
Cecil Wayne Thompson, son of Ivan and Lillian Leopold Thompson was born on August 18, 1916 at Webster City. He received his education at the Blairsburg No. 4 rural school also known as the Thompson or Pleasant View School. He served in the U.S. Airforce 905th Engineers, Airforce Headquarters Company, 13th Division in the Pacific Theater, during WWII. Following his discharge, he farmed with his parents on the family farm north of Stonega. He also farmed in the Webster City, Dayton, Vincent and Woolstock Communities. On July 17, 1946, he married Virginia Lucille Williams as the Asbury United Methodist Church parsonage in Webster City. The couple resided on the family farm. He retired from farming in 1979 but continued to reside on the farm.
On August 21, 1990 Cecil was honored with having a century old family farm by the Iowa Department of Agriculture and Land Stewardship and The Iowa Farm Bureau Federation. Mrs. Thompson died on January 2, 1994.
He is survived by his children Mary Jo and husband David Hudson of Des Moines, Bill and wife Sharon Thompson of Sac City, Becky and husband Gary Rose of Conrad, John and wife Jill Thompson of Webster City, 8 grandchildren two sisters, Maxine Brownfield of Webster City and Darlene Rasmussen of Des Moines, and many nieces, nephews and several cousins.
In addition to his wife, Virginia, he was preceded in death by his parents, two sisters, Mae Butler and Jean Campidilli.
Mr. Thompson was a member of Faith United Methodist Church in Webster City.
