Harvey Jeffrey Teig was born Jan. 5, 1915 to Henry Frederick and Julia Marie Mickelson Teig. He died Oct. 18, 1984 and is buried in Evergreen Cemetery, Jewell, IA.

Harvey’s service in the U.S. Navy was aboard the USS Welles (DD-628).

Harvey Teig, 69, died Thursday afternoon at Trinity Regional hospital in Fort Dodge where he had been a patient several days.

Funeral services will be Saturday at 11 a.m. at Bethesda Lutheran church with Intern Scott Grorud officiating. Burial will be in Evergreen cemetery.

Military rites will be held at graveside.

Visitation will be at the Becker Funeral home this afternoon, tonight and until time of services Saturday.

He was born Jan. 5, 1915, at Jewell, the son of Julia Mickelson Teig and Henry Teig. He attended the school in Jewell and served in the U.S. Navy from 1942 to 1945.

He had always farmed in the Williams and Jewell area, retiring in 1969 when he moved into Jewell, his home since.

He is survived by four sisters, Thelma Olson, Garden Grove, Calif., Adeline Hudspith of Alden, Genevieve Smith, Iowa Falls, and Mary Ann Beck of Sheffield; 25 nieces and nephews.

He was preceded in death by his parents, two sisters Maebelle Handeland and Myrtle B. Teig, and one brother, Kermith.

He was a member of the Bethesda Lutheran church and the American Legion.
