Elwood Lewis Simmons was born Oct. 15, 1924 to William and Louise Murphy Simmons. He died Mar. 17, 1944 and is buried in Glendale Cemetery, Des Moines, IA.
Pvt. Simmons served in World War II with the U.S. Army 1st Student Training Company, Army Specialized Training Program, Prairie View, TX and died from a gun shot wound from a stray bullet while on the rifle range.
