William Franklin Swartz was born in Dec. 9, 1923 to Lewis Burton and Mina Rogers Schwartz. He died in May 29, 1944 and is buried in Sicily-Rome American Cemetery and Memorial, Nettuno, Italy. He has a cenotaph in Oakland Cemetery, Moulton, IA.
Pvt. Swartz served with the U.S. Army in World War II with Co. G, 168th Infantry, 34th ‘Red Bull’ Division, 133rd Infantry, 2nd Battalion. He was KIA in Nettuno, Italy and awarded a Purple Heart.
