HEARS FROM SUMMERS
Mr. and Mrs. A. L. Bartosh are just in receipt of a photo of Sergt. Claude C. Sommers, probably somewhere in the Pacific. The picture was sent from San Francisco, but had apparently been taken in Hawaii. (dark photo included)
Sergt. Sommers was a member of the United States land forces at Midway island when it was attacked by the Japanese. While a resident of Webster City he lived with his brother, now a resident of Ames. He was graduated from the high school here in 1937 and had worked in the Jennings store, the Fastenow drug store and at the Webster theater.
