Herman Valentine Streb was born Feb. 14, 1913 to Simon P. and Sophia C. Sluga Streb. He died Feb. 20, 1991 is buried in Laurel Hill Cemetery, Des Moines, IA.
Private Streb was an ammunition carrier with the Red Bull Division in Ireland, England, North Africa, Algiers, Italy (at Anzio) and on to the Austrian border. He received seven overseas bars, the infantry combat badge, the pre-Pearl Harbor ribbon, European theater ribbon with three battle stars, and the good conduct medal.
