James Duane Smithhart was born May 26, 1909 to Harvey and Sarah Wood Smithhart. He died Dec. 2, 1944 and is memorialized at the Tablets of the Missing, Netherlands American Cemetery, Margraten, Netherlands.
Pvt. Smith served in World War II with the U.S. Army 334th Infantry Regiment, 84th Infantry Division and was MIA/KIA in Germany and was awarded the Bronze Star and Purple Heart.
