IN UNIFORM
Lt. Mahlon Smith, son of Mr. and Mrs. Mahlon Smith, 812 Douglas Street, is home on a 21-day leave from Amherst College, Amherst, Mass., where he is taking a West Point preparatory course. Lt. Smith received appointment as alternate to West Point. Following his leave he will report to Westover field, Mass. to continue training. Lt. Smith entered service in June 1943 and was commissioned as a navigator at San Marcos, Texas, in October 1944. He took his combat training in B-17’s at Ardmore, Oklahoma. A former circulation department employee of The Journal..., Lt. Smith is a graduate of Central High School.
