Arthur L. Smith was born Oct. 30, 1921 to Cecil G. and Beulah McMillen Smith. He died Feb. 22, 1944 and is buried in Wilson Cemetery, Independence, IA.
Sgt. Smith served with the U.S. Army Air Corps 72nd Liaison Squadron in World War II. He died at Thayer General Hospital, Nashville, TN, his death occurring in the line of duty.
