Eldon Lee Smeltzer was born June 28, 1915 to Edwin G. and Susan Hendrix Smeltzer. He died Dec. 20, 1943 and is memorialized at the Tablets of the Missing, Cambridge American Cemetery, Cambridge, England.
Lt. Smeltzer served in World War II with the U.S. Army Air Corps 700th Bomber Squadron, 445 Bomber Group, Heavy. He was KIA over Germany (North Sea) and was awarded the Purple Heart and Air Medal.
