Former Ute Youth with Air Force in Italy Is Honored Ute, la.
Special: Flight Officer Glenn G. Shipley, 21, formerly of Ute and now bombardier on a B-24 of the 15th army air force in Italy, has been awarded the air medal for meritous achievement in aerial flight while participating in sustained operational activities against the enemy. A graduate of the Ute high school Flight Officer Shipley enlisted in the infantry in March 1942. He was transferred to the air corps the following year and graduated from the Victorville, Cal. school of bombardiers in the fall of 1943. He is a son of Mr. and Mrs. Floyd Shipley of Ute. His father is a a veteran of the first world war and is now active in the American Legion.
