Russell J. Shepherd was born Jan. 18, 1919 to John Betz and Myrtle E. Wheeler Shepherd. He died Feb. 6, 1943 and is buried in Avon Cemetery, Des Moines, IA.
Pvt. Shepherd served in World War II with the U.S. Army Co. B, 1st Battalion, 331st Engineer Regiment and was MIA/FOD between Fort Nelson, British Columbia and Fort St. John, British Columbia.
