Burial of Harold Shaver To Be at Melbourne.
New Providence—Mr. and Mrs. Noran Shaver, living south of St. Anthony but formerly residing near here, have been informed that the body of their son, Harold Shaver, has arrived in New York. Plans for services have not been completed as it is not known when the body will arrive in Iowa, but it is expected that burial will be made at Melbourne. Pvt. Shaver died Feb. 24, 1945, aged about 20 years, from wounds received during the invasion of Iwo Jima. He was graduated from New Providence high school in 1942 and was in the replacement group of the 4th division of the Marines. He was survived by his parents, an older brother, then in the Navy, and three sisters.

Services Saturday For Harold Shaver.
New Providence—Funeral services for Harold Shaver, who died Feb. 24, 1945, aged 21 years, has been announced to take place at the Pursel funeral home, 405 West Main street, Marshalltown, at two o’clock Saturday.
Pvt. Shaver, a marine, was wounded during the invasion of Iwo Jima and died in a hosptial. First burial was in Saipan. He was a son of Mr. and Mrs. Noran Shaver.

Harold L. Shaver was born Nov. 29, 1924 to Noran R. and Myrl Herndon Shaver. He died Feb. 24, 1945 and is buried in Melbourne Memorial Garden, Melbourne, IA. He was initially buried in the 4th Marine Division Cemetery on Saipan and returned to the U.S. in 1949.
