Three Des Moines brothers, who have been with the marines in the South Pacific from 18 months to two years, met on Saipan Island for the first time since entering services.
Left to right are Sergt. Leon Shanks, 24; Staff Sergeant Delbert Shanks, 25; and Pvt. (f.c.) Vernon Shanks, 26, sons of Mrs. Viola Shanks, 2446 S. E. Seventh st. Although all have participated in major engagements, including Tarawa, none has been wounded.
