FIVE ALGONA MEN HAVE LOST LIVES IN SERVICE.
ALGONA—The five soldiers from this community who have given their lives for their country are graduates of the Algona high school.
Thomas Wagner, who was graduated in 1938, served in the Navy and was killed in action.
Bill Turner, who was graduated in 1936, served in the Marines. He was wounded at Pearl Harbor and died five days later.
Bob Sellstron, who was graduated in 1934, served in the United States Navy air force, and died from burns.
Howard Medin, who was graduated in 1935, served in the United States Army air force and died when his plane crashed into San Francisco Bay.
Kenneth Durant, who was graduated in 1939, served with the Marines in the Solomon Islands and was killed in action.
