Ronald Leroy Schwendemann was born Jan. 4, 1921 to Harrison William and Ina Hildegard Lundgren Schwendemann. He died Apr. 8, 1945 and is memorialized at the Walls of the Missing, Manila American Cemetery, Taguig City, Philippines and has a cenotaph in Dayton Cemetery, Dayton, IA.
Lt. Schwendemann served in World War II with the U.S. Navy and was MIA/FOD/KIA aboard the USS Snook (SS-279) when that vessel was lost at sea, cause unknown. He was awarded the Bronze Star with Gold Star, Purple Heart, Asiatic Pacific Campaign Medal and Submarine Combat Patrol Insignia. ~oneternalparol
