William T. “Junior” Richards, was born June 20, 1923 in Edgewood, Iowa, to William T. and Katherine (Holtz) Richards. He was a graduate of the Edgewood High School, Edgewood, Iowa, class of 1940.
He enlisted on February 15, 1943 at Camp Dodge and was assigned to the 320th Infantry on March 7, 1943. He was a Technician fifth grade (TEC5). He saw battle actions in Normandy, Northern France, Ardennes, Central Europe, and Rhineland.
He married Wanda Henkes in 1950. He owned and operated Richards Cafe in Edgewood, and also drove school bus for Edgewood schools, and later for Edgewood-Colesburg schools. He passed away on April 23, 1980 in Delaware county, Iowa.
