Ashton, Iowa—Mr. and Mrs. James Roth of Ashton received word that their son, Private First Class Verne J. Roth has arrived safely in the southwest Pacific recently. His brother, Private First Class Kenneth W. Roth is stationed at Fort Bragg, North Carolina.

Verne Joseph Roth was born July 20, 1917 to Joseph A. and Catherine Winkel Roth. He died Jan. 2, 1991 and is buried in Pea Ridge Cemetery, Pea Ridge, Arkansas.
Sgt. Roth served with the U.S. Army in World War II.
