James D. Roberts was born June 10, 1909 to J. O. and Lulu Mae Barr Roberts. He died Sept. 26, 1944 and is buried in Lowell Cemetery, Clarksville, IA.
Pvt. Roberts served with the U.S. Army Infantry 30th Infantry Regiment, 3rd Infantry Division in World War II and was KIA in France. He was awarded the Purple Heart with Oak Leaf Cluster.
