Ernest O. Ritland was born Aug. 28, 1910 to Olaus J. and Osa R. Lee Ritland. He died Feb. 26, 1945 and is buried in Luxembourg American Cemetery, Hamm, Luxembourg and has a cenotaph in Zion Lutheran Church Cemetery, Garden City, IA.
Sgt. Ritland served in World War II with the U.S. Army 37th Tank Battalion, 4th Armored Division and was KIA in Germany and was awarded the Purple Heart.
