Billy Chester Rhoads was born June 1, 1923 to Deno E. and Elizabeth White Rhoads. He died Jan. 26, 1944 and was buried at sea and memorialized at the Tablets of the Missing, Sicily-Rome American Cemetery, Nettuno, Italy and has a cenotaph in Service Chapel Cemetery, Bluff Creek, IA.
Pvt. Rhoads served in World War II with the U.S. Army 83rd Chemical Battalion and was KIA in Italy and awarded the Purple Heart.
