Doyle Burdett Proffitt was born Feb. 23, 1921 to William Bryon and Forrest Belle Rick Proffitt. He died Mar. 2, 1945 and is buried in the Luxembourg American Cemetery and Memorial, Hamm, Luxembourg.
Lt. Proffitt served in World War II with the U.S. Army Air Corps 584th Bomber Squadron, 394th Bomb Group. He was KIA and awarded the Purple Heart and Air Medal.
