Earl Oakley Petersen was born Feb. 6, 1921 to Thorwald and Marie Schultz Petersen. He died Sept. 23, 1944 and is buried in Florence American Cemetery and Memorial, Florence, Italy.
Lt. Petersen served with the U.S. Army Air Corps in World War II. He was a pilot with the 319th Bomb Group, 439th Bomb Squad and was MIA/KIA when his B-26 Marauder #42-107555 was shot down over target on a bombing mission to Vigevano, Rail Road Bridge, Italy.
