Glen Irvin Patterson was born Aug. 21, 1919 to George Ellis and Nannie Ruth Woodley Patterson. He died Jan. 30, 1944 and is buried in the Galt Cemetery, Wright Co., IA.
Sgt. Patterson served in World War II with the U.S. Army 15th Infantry, 3rd Infantry Div. He was KIA and had been awarded the Silver Star for gallantry and the Purple Heart, in the Sicilian campaign, where he was wounded in battle July 1, 1943. After several months in the hospital, he was returned to his unit and saw action again in Italy. There, in the most intense fighting of the campaign, he fell in battle, Jan. 30, 1944.
