Tech. Fifth Grade Bob Otten, a veteran of 19 months overseas service and five major battles is currently stationed near Nuremberg, Germany with the quartermaster corps, and his sister, Lt. Mary Helen Otten of the army nurse corps is on leave with her duties at the Camp Butner General hospital in North Carolina. They are the son and daughter of Mrs. Gertrude Otten, 1720 West Twelfth street, and the late Clement Otten.

Tech Otten who entered the army Jan 26, 1943, is a graduate of St. Ambrose academy. He received his training at Camp Hahn, Calif., and fought with the anti-aircraft unit in the work of an observer during the invasion of Normandy and the campaigns if northern France, Germany and the Rhineland. In civil life he was employed as apprentice machinist at the Rock Island aresenal.

Lt. Otten is a graduate of Immaculate Conception academy and of the St Anthony's hospital school of nursing, where she trained in the cadet nursing program. Receiving her commission in March of this year, she was stationed at Camp McCoy.
