James Lorelle Opheim was born June 6, 1927 to Julius and Emelia Sime Opheim. He died Apr. 8, 1946 and is memorialized at the Courts of the Missing, Court 1, Honolulu Memorial, Honolulu, Hawaii.
Petty Officer Opheim served in World War II with the U.S. Navy, Torpedo Squadron 17, aboard the USS Hornet (CV-8) and was MIA/FOD/KIA when his plane crashed in the East China sea. He was awarded the Air Medal and Purple Heart.
