Arnold Niemeier was born Oct. 27, 1918 to Arnold and Anna Rusch Niemeier. He died July 7, 1944 and is buried in Normandy American Cemetery, Colleville-sur-Mer, France and has a cenotaph in Saint Johns Lutheran Cemetery, Galva, IA.
Sgt. Niemeier served in World War II with the U.S. Army 313th Infantry Regiment, 79th Infantry Division and died of wounds received in action in France. He was awarded the Purple Heart.
