POSTHUMOUS AWARD

DUBUQUE, IA.—Mr. and Mrs. Albert Neuses, Dubuque, have received the Purple Heart awarded posthumously to their son, Pvt. Joseph Neuses, who was killed in action in the North Atlantic.

Joseph Francis Neuses was born Mar. 25, 1920 to Albert and Veronica Nauman Neuses. He died Feb. 3, 1943 (At Sea) and is memorialized at the Tablets of the Missing, East Coast Memorial, Manhattan, NY.
Pvt. Neuses served in World War II with the U.S. Army Air Corps and was MIA/KIA aboard the USAT (U.S. Army Transport) Dorchester when that vessel was torpedoed about 100 miles from Greenland.
