Corporal Harold Nelson of Fort Ord, California, arrived this morning to spend a 10-day furlough with his sister, Mrs. Pauline Phillips, 5300 Wellington Avenue and his brother, Victor Nelson at Anthon, Iowa.

Sioux City Women Learns Brother Is Killed in Action
Corporal Harold Nelson, 29, formerly of Luton, Iowa, has been killed in action in Australia, according to word received by his sister, Mrs. Pauline Phillips, 5300 Wellington Street.
A member of the army engineers corps, Corporal Nelson enlisted April 19, 1942, and had been stationed at New Guinea and in Australia. He worked on a farm near Luton before entering the service.
Born in Luton, he had lived most of his life there. His widow now resides in Boston. Surviving in addition to the widow and his sister are two brothers, Victor of Anthon and Paul of Hornick.

Harold Leander Nelson was born June 29, 1915 to Elmer Leander and Geneva Mabel Tulk Nelson. He died June 18, 1943 and is buried in Memorial Park Cemetery, Sioux City, IA. He was awarded the Purple Heart with Oak Leaf Cluster.
