Wayne Marshall Needles was born Sept. 10, 1922 to Marshall Soloman and Amy Miller Needles. He died Oct. 31, 1944 and is buried in Chariton Cemetery, Chariton, IA.
Pvt. Needles served in World War II with the U.S. Army 415th Infantry, 104th Division, Co. F and was KIA by enemy artillery while his unit was engaged in seizing the bridge head over the Mark River in the vicinity of Standdaarbuiten, Holland. He was awarded the Purple Heart and Combat Infantryman’s Badge.
