Duane Wilson Moffit was born Feb. 4, 1916 to Thompson Carson and Mary Edith Moffit. He died Apr. 6, 1945 and is memorialized at the Courts of the Missing, Court 1, Honolulu Memorial, Honolulu, Hawaii and has a cenotaph in Masonic Cemetery, Tipton, IA.
Ens. Moffit served in World War II with the U.S. Navy aboard the USS Bush (DD-529) when it sank near Okinawa. He was awarded the Purple Heart.
