Lieut. G. C. Merrill, Jr. and his wife are here from Miami, Florida for five days with his parents, Mr. and Mrs. G.C. Merrill, 717 37th Street. Lieut. Merrill’s promotion from second to first lieutenant July 31 at Miami followed commendation from his commanding officer, Col. H.A. Halverson for the lieutenant’s production of a signal sustenance kit to be used in anti-submarine warfare. He is an air force officer.
