Robert Dodds Mathis was born Sept. 1, 1919 to John W. and Mary M. Dodds Mathis. He died Dec. 27, 1944 and is buried in Keokuk National Cemetery, Keokuk, IA.
Lt. Mathis served in World War II with the U.S. Army Air Corps 678th Bomb Squadron, 444th Bomb Group and died in China while in the service of his country.
