John Wallis Marckres was born Oct. 22, 1915 to Harry P. and Maude E. Marckres. He died Sept. 7, 1944 and is buried in Violet Hill Cemetery, Perry, IA.
Lt. Marckres served in World War II with the U.S. Army Co. G, 358th Infantry Regiment, 90th Infantry Division and was seriously wounded in action and later died as the result of acute yellow atrophy of the liver in Ice Coyde Park, Wales.
