William D. Myers was born May 6, 1915 to Henry E. and Frances E. Myers. He died June 6, 1944 and is buried in Normandy American Cemetery, Colleville-sur-Mer, France.
Pvt. Myers served in World War II with the U.S. Army 2nd Ranger Battalion and was one of the brave soldiers who died on the D-Day beach landing in France. He was awarded the Purple Heart.

On June 6, 1944, elements of the 2nd Ranger Battalion scaled the cliffs, seizing German artillery hazardous to the landings on Omaha and Utah Beaches. They held on against fierce counterattacks.
