John William Murray was born Jan. 24, 1921 to Rawleigh Harkless and Clara Ella Magner Murray. He died Mar. 1, 1942 and is memorialized in Beaver Cemetery, Boone, IA.
Sgt. Murray served with the U.S. Army Air Corps in World War II and was MIA/KIA (Lost at Sea) in the Battle of Java Sea. He was awarded the Purple Heart.
