Additional Honors for Service Given Sergeant McGinnis
Staff Sergeant Leland B. McGinnis, son of Mr. and Mrs. F.A. McGinnis, 512 11th Street, now serving in the adjutant general’s department of the 11th army air force in the western Aleutians, has been promoted to warrant officer, j.g. at his Aleutian base. The war department has awarded him the good conduct medal, the Asiatic-Pacific ribbon with the Aleutian campaign star, the American defense ribbon and the American theater ribbon. Prior to his entering service he was engaged in musical activities in Iowa.
His wife resides in Alta, Iowa. As a member of the 11th A.A.F., Sergeant McGinnis was part of the first air force to bomb the Japanese homeland in this war.
Two other brothers are in the service. Harold M. McGinnis, an instrumental instructor, is stationed at the naval air technical training center in Chicago. Sergeant Richard C. McGinnis is serving with the infantry in an European war theater.
