Harold Wayne ‘Wayne’ Maudlin was born Aug. 1, 1921 to Henry Richard and Elsie Martha Dial Maudlin. He died Apr. 13, 1972 and is buried in Graceland Cemetery, Webster City, IA.
Sgt. Maudlin served with the U.S. Army in World War II.

Killed in construction mishap
Maudlin victim of tragedy
Wayne H. Maudlin, 50, prominent Webster City businessman, was killed yesterday afternoon in a tragic accident which occurred at a gravel pit site located near Rock Valley in the Hawarden, Iowa, area.
According to information received here, Maudlin, who was secretary and treasurer and general manager of the Maudlin Construction Co. of Webster City, was crushed when a heavy construction vehicle, a wheel-loader, backed over him.
He was rushed to the Hawarden hospital, but was pronounced dead on arrival at the hospital.
Complete details of the accident were not available here this morning, but it was reported that Maudlin had just arrived at the job site to inspect it when the accident occurred at about 2:30 p.m.
Funeral services will be held at 2 p.m. Saturday at the Greenfield Memorial chapel with the Rev. S.W. Cunningham officiating with private burial services to be held at Graceland cemetery.
Born at Nevada
Wayne H. Maudlin, son of Henry and Elsie Maudlin, was born Aug. 1, 1921 at Nevada, Iowa, but moved with his parents to Webster City in 1935 when the Maudlin Construction Co., was started here.
He was graduated from Webster City high school and later attended Webster City Junior college. He entered the service in World War II and saw duty for three years.
On Jan. 11, 1947, he was united in marriage to Betty Coulter of Webster City at LeMars, and the Maudlin family had made their home in Webster City ever since.
He was secretary and treasurer and general manager of the Maudlin Construction Co. and was a member of the board of trustees of the Associated General Contractors of Iowa. He was a member of the Asbury Methodist church and had served as a trustee and Sunday school teacher at Asbury Methodist for many years. He was also a member of the American Legion.
Surviving are his wife; two sons, Tim and Tom; his parents, Mr. and Mrs. Henry Maudlin of Webster City; one brother, Gayle Maudlin of Webster City; one sister, Mrs. Hazel Burt, also of Webster City, and by several nieces and nephews.
