James Leonard Magar was born May 27, 1913 to James Hiram and Lena F. Jones Magar. He died Sept. 17, 1993 and is buried in Homewood Cemetery, Ellsworth, IA.
James served with the U.S. Army in World War II.

Son of James Hiram & Lena (Jones) Magar. On Sept. 1, 1979, he married Helen Busch at Trinity Lutheran Church in Ellsworth. He was custodian and bus driver for South Hamilton Schools for 20 years before retiring in 1979. He was a WWII veteran of the U.S. Army.
He is survived by his wife, Helen; son, David, Stockton, Calif.; grandson, Dylan Magar, Stockton; step-children, Merlyn Evans, Ellsworth, Verona Johnson, Des Moines, Bill Busch, Jewell, Allen Busch, Garden City, Helen Siedenburg, Jefferson City, MO; sisters, Josephine Kersey, Claremore, Okla., Elizabeth Magar, Owasso, Okla.; 14 step-grandchildren; one step-great grandchild. He was preceded in death by his parents; wives, Iva & Marjorie; and one sister.
