Iowa Honor Roll

Like the men pictured here on previous Sundays, these Iowans have given their lives for their country.  Each one was either killed in action or died in prison camp. The fourth line under each picture gives the area in which the man last served. The list will be continued in future weeks.

Paul Joseph Lynch was born Sept. 15, 1924 to George and Barbara Bridget Higgins Lynch. He died Sept. 16. 1942 and is memorialized at the Courts of the Missing, Court 1, Honolulu Memorial, Honolulu, Hawaii and has a cenotaph in Mount Calvary Cemetery, Grand Junction, IA.

Petty Officer Lynch served in World War II with the U.S. Navy aboard the USS Wasp (CV-7) that was sunk near Guadalcanal. He was MIA/FOD/KIA and awarded the Purple Heart. VFW Post 9122 in Grand Junction was named for Seaman Lynch.
