Sheldon, Ia.—Sgt. Patrick B. Lynch, 21, formerly of Sheldon, was killed in action in Germany on February 18 as a member of the 11th armored infantry division of the American Third army.  He graduated from the Sheldon high school and attended Loras college at Dubuque before entering the service in July, 1943.  Sgt. Lynch had been overseas since September, 1944. Survivors include his mother, Mrs. Leone Lynch of Omaha, one sister, his grandmother and his father.

Patrick B. Lynch was born July 15, 1923 to Patrick V. and Leone Cecilia Baxter Lynch. He died Feb. 18, 1945 and is buried in Henri-Chapelle American Cemetery, Hombourg, Belgium.

Sgt. Lynch served in World War II with the U.S. Army 63rd Infantry Battalion, 11th Armored Division. He was awarded the Purple Heart.
