LIND, FORMER HAWK, KILLED
Ottumwa, IA. -- Harold Lind, former University of Iowa basketball and baseball player, has been killed in action while serving as a lieutenant in the marines in the south Pacific, according to word received by his parents here Saturday.
A graduate of Iowa in 1943, Lind captained the 1943 Hawk baseball team. Lind starred in basketball at Ottumwa High and was a member of Ottumwa's state American legion junior baseball finalist several years back.
He was the eighth Iowa letterman to be killed in action.

Harold Leroy Lind was born May 15, 1921 to Harvey H. and Mary Emma Mizer Lind. He died July 21, 1944 and is buried in Ottumwa Cemetery, Ottumwa, IA.
