John August Liebenstein was born Feb. 24, 1920 to Harry J. and Amalie Borchardt Liebenstein. He died Apr. 11, 1944 and is buried in Council Hill Cemetery, Monona, IA.
Lt. Liebenstein served in World War II with the U.S. Army 349th Infantry and died of wounds received in action in Italy while serving his country.
