MEN IN SERVICE
Private T. K. Lieb, son of Mr. and Mrs. G.A. Lieb, 1208 Jones Street, has finished “boot” training in the Marine Corps and now is attending a bombardier and gunnery school at El Centro, Cal. A brother, Private Joseph H. Lieb of the Marine Corps, is “somewhere in the Pacific” with a squadron that was famous at Wake Island.

Recover Body Of Private Lieb In Crash At Sea
Mr. and Mrs. G. A. Lieb, 1208 Jones Street, received word Sunday that the body of their son, Private Thomas K. Lieb, United States marine corps, has been recovered and will be returned to them for burial. Letters that came this morning gave Private Lieb’s parents information as to his death.
Funeral arrangements will not be completed until definite word of the time of the arrival of the body is received.
Private Lieb, who had been stationed at Santa Barbara, California, was sent to San Diego for night flying training. He was gunner on the plane that crashed at approximately 11:48 p.m. July 29, off Point Loma, Cal., the Marine Corps informed his parents. All occupants on the plane were lost.
The telegram that came Sunday said that private Lieb’s body was recovered August 20 and positive identification made August 21.

Private Thomas Lieb
The body of Private Thomas K. Lieb, United States marine, who was killed July 29 in an airplane crash at sea off Point Loma, Cal., will arrive in Sioux City shortly after midnight Friday, his parents have been notified. Private Lieb was the son of Mr. and Mrs. G. A. Lieb, 1208 Jones Street. The body was recovered August 20.
A requiem high mass at 9 a.m. Monday in Cathedral of the Epiphany will be followed by military rites by the Marine Corps at the graveside in Calvary cemetery. Until Monday, the body will be at the Larkin Funeral Home. Marines will be pallbearers.

The rosary will be recited for Private Thomas Lieb, marine, killed July 29 in an airplane crash, at 8 p.m. Saturday and at the same hour Sunday, at the Larkin funeral home. Funeral services will be held at 9 a.m. Monday in the Cathedral of the Epiphany, with Rev. T. M. Parle officiating.
