Mother Recognizes Sioux City Youth in Film Here
When Mrs. Fred Leckband, 2612 S. Helen Street, attended a theater last week she was surprised to recognize her son, Carl Leckband, 19, a pharmacist’s mate third class in the documentary film, "Marines at Tarawa."
Young Leckband was in several scenes of the picture which ended Thursday in which he was seen caring for wounded men. He joined the Navy, while attending East High School in September, 1942, and went overseas in June, 1943.
